German Government partners CYCDI to promote 17 Global Solutions and Online Resource Library in support Sustainable Development Goals

The Creative Youth Community Development Initiative (CYCDI) is partnering the Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs represented by the Consulate General, Federal Republic of Germany in Lagos to promote quality education, creativity and innovation through the 17 Global Solutions; CCB-ART for SDGs in support of Phase Two of 2018 Edition of the Vision of the Child.


The team of CYCDI was at the Consulate on Thursday, October 18, 2018 to finalise agreement among others, they were received by the Vice Consul, Ms. Damaris Lorenz-Zurwehme and the Programme Officer, Mr Omotunde Kasali.


The exhibition and workshop of CCB-ART for SDGs titled “Make, Create and Innovate” will be hosted by Children International School (CIS Lagos) on November 20 and 21, 2018. The workshop will be facilitated by the World Health Innovation Summit (WHIS). The event highlight includes the Launch of WHISKid, opening of online resource library and Award Presentation to the 17 changemakers.


Earlier in the year, CYCDI in partnership with the European Union and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime began the project to commemorate the 2018 edition of the ‘Vision of the Child’ to raise drug prevention awareness amongst youth and vulnerable adults. The programme was designed to trigger creativities and the rich intellectual resources of children and youth.

A total of 17 Changemakers from 17 Schools with 17 Creative Ideas and Solutions emerged from the project; which was successfully concluded in June 2018.


The project outcome led to the production of sensitization short film titled “TRAPPED” to to raise awareness against the menace of Drug Abuse in support of EU-UNODC “Response to Drugs and Related Organized Crime in Nigeria”. The Film and Documentary ‘Solution 17’ was launched on June 26, 2018 to mark International Day Against Drug Abuse.

On August 22. 2018 during the 67th United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI)/NGO Conference, TRAPPED was screened as one of the best youth movie in support of Sustainable Development Goals towards actualisation of Agenda 2030.

The CEO of CYCDI, Foluke Michael thanked the Consulate for continuous support for sustainable projects. In 2016, the Consulate supported CYCDI-Creative Youth Initiative Against Corruption, an initiative that won the 2018 United Nations SDG Innovator in Bonn Germany at the Global Festival of Action for Sustainable Development organised by United Nations SDG Action Campaign.
